Weston School Committee Unanimously Approves 2026-2031 District Strategic Plan
WESTON — June 22, 2026 — Weston School Committee approves five-year strategic plan, defers outcome measures to September. The committee voted unanimously Monday to adopt the 2026-2031 Weston Public Schools Strategic Plan, covering mission, core values, portrait of a learner, focus areas, goals, and strategies, while directing Superintendent Dr. Zaleski to return with proposed objectives and measures of success for each focus area no later than September 30, 2026. Chair Daina Selvig, who moved the motion, said the draft outcome measures prepared by the administrative team were "a really important element" but warranted more time to refine without the pressure of the school-year close. Vice Chair Tiao Xie cautioned that outcome measures must be designed carefully to avoid incentivizing administrators toward the wrong behaviors. Member Kenneth Newberg identified a gap in the plan — a unifying statement expressing who Weston is as a district — that Selvig said the committee would take up at its August 3-4 summer retreat.
