Wayland Trust Fund Commission Approves Eight Disbursements Totaling More Than $80,000

WAYLAND — June 22, 2026 — Wayland Trust Fund Commission approves eight unanimous disbursements totaling more than $80,000 at its June 22 remote meeting. Chair Robert Fox, Commissioner Adam Garrett Gutbezahl, and Commissioner Barry S. Rothschild voted 3-0 on every item, approving $10,090 from the Small Funds for library books and a phased cut glass window repair — the larger phase capped at $3,650 with a December 31, 2026 sunset — and $2,050 from the Draper and Gossels Human Dignity funds for ESOL tutor training and the Conversations for Change series hosted by Dr. Eden-Renee Hayes. The commission trimmed the Department of Public Works' $70,000 Perpetual Care Fund request to $68,055.84, its standard 3.5 percent trailing-quarter ceiling, telling DPW it could return to argue for the remaining $1,944.16. The meeting's sharpest exchange came over the Cultural Enrichment Committee's $4,160 request from the Greaves Fund: Gutbezahl argued the fund's roughly $87,000 market value warranted a more conservative draw, and the commission landed at 3 percent — $2,450.20 — rather than the usual 3.5 percent guidance. The commission also voted 3-0 to seat Gutbezahl as chair for the coming year; Rothschild disclosed he will not seek a fourth term when his commission appointment expires April 30, 2027.
