Weston Planning Board Delays Regis College Rezoning Vote to Fall Town Meeting

WESTON — March 4, 2026 — Weston's Planning Board voted unanimously to recommend delaying a zoning bylaw vote on a proposed 215-unit senior living complex at 300 Wellesley Street — on the Regis College campus — until fall town meeting. Chair Leslie Glynn said the proposal, filed by developer HYM, arrived too close to the spring town meeting warrant deadline for the board to complete adequate due diligence, including peer reviews of HYM's preliminary traffic study and an 839-page environmental soils report. Giske, a board member who is also an abutter, said the initial traffic study was inadequate and that an independent soils engineer must begin peer review "very soon." Resident Alan Day argued that 52 percent of Weston residents over age 65 earn less than $75,000 as a household and would be excluded by the project's pricing, calling HYM's 10 percent affordable unit offer too low. The board sent a letter to the Select Board — which is scheduled to take up the spring warrant on March 17 — recommending the matter move to fall. The board also unanimously adopted new Multifamily Lighting Rules and Regulations benchmarked against the Weston Public Library and Dark Sky Association standards, and approved a site plan amendment at 355 Highland Street governing retaining walls, relocated mechanical equipment, and revised landscaping.
