Historic Districts Commission approves church reroofing and Eagle Scout sign, continues two cases
SUDBURY — March 5, 2026 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission approves church reroofing and Eagle Scout kiosk, sends dormer plan back again. The commission unanimously cleared Memorial Congregational Church to replace its failing 30-year-old three-tab shingles at 26 Concord Road with charcoal architectural shingles, with applicant George Conner telling members the church "is like a sieve right now." Members also approved a cedar kiosk at zero Water Row by Eagle Scout candidate Theo Bound with conditions on stainless fasteners and knotty cedar, and a Pervia Ascent fiberglass door at 230 Old Sudbury Road in either Benjamin Moore Caldwell Green or Red Rock. But Chair Anuraj Shah pushed back hard on a third-time dormer proposal at 84 French Road, telling owner Gabby Cefalo and architect Bill Martin of Martin Designs Inc. that simply matching dormer roof shapes "isn't going to make the house work" and asking for sketch-level Cape-style alternatives by April 9. A 377 Concord Road window case was also continued after the commission rejected fiberglass replacements.
