Sudbury Select Board accepts $225,000 Cummings grant for senior meal program

SUDBURY — June 16, 2026 — Sudbury Select Board accepts $225,000 Cummings grant to launch senior meal program. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday to accept the three-year grant — $75,000 annually — to fund staffing, food service and supplies for "Sudbury Eats," operating from the Fairbank Community Center's new commercial kitchen, per a memo from Senior Center Director Nickole Boardman. Member Charles Russo pressed Town Manager Andrew Sheehan on what happens when grant funds run out in 2030; Sheehan said the program will need to find ongoing funding or compete for operating-budget space. The board also accepted a $124,320 Community Compact fiber grant extending redundant connectivity to all Sudbury schools, the Goodnow Library and the Water District. Commissioner Steven Swanger resigned from the Sudbury Housing Authority after 40 years; applications for his seat are due June 26 ahead of a June 30 joint meeting. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission fell below quorum after four members declined reappointment.
