Natick Conservation Commission Closes Cypress Road Stormwater Permit Hearing

NATICK — June 18, 2026 — Natick Conservation Commission closes Cypress Road hearing, moves to July vote on subdivision permit. The commission unanimously closed the public hearing on a major stormwater permit for the Morell Construction subdivision at 43 Cypress Road at its June 18 meeting, with an order of conditions to be drafted by staff and voted on at the July 16 meeting; engineer Mike Dean of D&L Design Group presented a six-phase construction plan addressing prior commission concerns about equipment access over water lines and a secondary construction entrance off Bayberry. The commission also directed the applicant at 24 Peterson Road, represented by Peter Lavoie of D&L Design Group, to refile under new-development standards at 310 CMR 10.584 rather than redevelopment at 10.585, after members Matt and Michael argued that lawn area within a Riverfront zone does not constitute a "degraded area" qualifying for the less-restrictive classification. Staff reported an in-budget bid of approximately $267,000 for the Pickerel Pond split boardwalk project and authorized a volunteer breach of a Town Forest beaver dam, with Natick under a Level 3 drought and mandatory water ban. The commission also discussed escalating unauthorized land disturbance — including apparent larceny of MBTA fencing materials — at the Middlesex Path bike area, directing staff to pursue bollards, increased police patrols, and a proposal to formalize a sanctioned bike park use.
