Conservation Commission approves Dudley Road home over abutter's objections

WAYLAND — May 6, 2026 — Wayland Conservation Commission approves contested 123 Dudley Road home 4-1, with conditions on final planting plan. Members issued an order of conditions for applicant Joel Goodmonson's single-family home, septic and stormwater system over the objections of member Barbara Howell and abutter Skip Miller, who called the design "too big for the site" and the planting plan "insanely dense." The plan from Gregory Lombardi Design proposes 27 trees, 116 large shrubs and 285 small shrubs, but member Lisa Aubin pressed for more trees to replace roughly seven mature specimens over 24 inches in diameter coming down. Chair Sean Ferris also pledged to summon DPW Director Tom Holder to the May 27 meeting to explain an unpermitted trench dug along Dudley Brook by a mosquito control contractor. Commissioners separately authorized peer review for a 43 Barney Hill Road project adding more than 9,000 square feet of impervious surface.
