Weston Route 30 Path Draws Heated Debate at 75% Design Listening Session
WESTON — May 14, 2026 — Weston's Traffic and Sidewalk Committee faced sharp public pushback at a May 14 listening session on the 75% design for a Route 30 shared-use path. Consultant Bridget Myers of lead design firm HSH presented a plan calling for a 10-foot two-way shared-use path along the 3.7-mile corridor's south side, with approximately 360 trees removed, 75 utility poles relocated, and 2.8 acres of new impervious surface added. Select Board member Lisa Revers, speaking as a private resident, demanded an environmental review of the project's carbon footprint, calling the cumulative impacts "an enormous environmental impact to our town." Fellow Select Board member Rebecca Butter, also speaking personally, raised safety concerns about westbound cyclists at driveway crossings on a 40-mile-per-hour road. Supporters, including resident Laurie Bentz, framed the path as a missing link in a regional bicycle network. The committee directed residents to submit comments to traffic@westonma.gov ahead of a western-corridor listening session scheduled for May 19.
