Weston CPC Sends Nearly $1.82 Million in Projects to Town Meeting

WESTON — February 23, 2026 — Weston's Community Preservation Committee unanimously approved six funding proposals totaling approximately $1.818 million at its February 23 remote public hearing, forwarding all six to annual town meeting. The largest item was a $1 million request to convert unused space at the Brooks School Apartments into two new affordable elderly units, with an estimated $500,000 per-unit cost and a targeted construction start within 60 to 90 days of funding approval. The committee also approved $400,000 toward Musco field lights at Weston High School Field 1 — part of a $525,000 total project that includes at least $125,000 in committed private fundraising through Weston Boosters, who confirmed roughly $70,000 already raised. Other approvals included $300,000 for Town Green tree rehabilitation, $50,000 for Birchard Park playground design fees, $18,000 for a dog park feasibility study, and $48,000 for the Regional Housing Services Office. A $4,000 native tree canopy application was tabled after its presenter failed to appear for a third consecutive meeting. Chair Glenn Butcher noted that all six approved projects can be funded from existing CPC balances without borrowing.
