Sudbury unveils $1.2 million capital operating budget and $2.2 million DPW floor project

SUDBURY — February 23, 2026 — Sudbury staff unveil $1.2M operating capital request and $2.2M DPW garage floor at joint Capital Night. Town Manager Andy Sheehan presented the FY27 package to a joint meeting of the Select Board, Finance Committee, CIAC and Sudbury School Committee on Feb. 23, reporting the staff capital expenditures committee had pared an initial $1.9 million town-side request to $1,195,600 and a broader free-cash list from $8.3 million to $4.7 million. Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran presented a $2.2 million in-levy debt request to replace the original concrete floor of the DPW garage, plus $450,000 for SPS school-safety upgrades following a Homeland Security CISA review. Fire Chief Tim Choate sought $550,000 to replace SCBA units before their 2028 end-of-life, and DPW Director Tina Rivard asked for $1.11 million in vehicle replacements, $950,000 for culvert and road work, and $500,000 as the first of four years of parking-lot repairs. Lincoln-Sudbury sought $147,679 as Sudbury's share of wastewater controls replacement. Finance Committee member Hank pressed staff for a priority ranking ahead of a potential FY28 override: "I want to know … exactly what's going to get pruned." No board voted on the capital items.
