Westford Select Board reorganizes, approves $407K in budget transfers at May meeting

WESTFORD — May 12, 2026 — Westford Select Board reorganizes under new chair, approves $397K firefighter contract transfer. The board unanimously elected Chris Barrett as chair, Sean Kelly as vice chair, and Noel Donovan as clerk at its May 12 meeting, the first since the May 5 town election that brought new member Elizabeth Sawyer onto the board. In a joint session with the Finance Committee, the boards approved a $396,899 mid-year budget transfer to fund a newly settled IAFF firefighter contract that had been expired since June 30, 2024, with Town Manager Dan O'Donnell noting that additional ambulance enterprise fund adjustments would require action at an October 26 special town meeting. The board also voted unanimously to support a letter backing Red Gate's application for up to $1 million from the state's Underutilized Property Program to restore the historic house at the 2119 Littleton Road former Westford Regency site, part of a proposed 300-unit multi-family development; resident Wendy Lloyd pushed back on the developer's conditional approach to accessibility lifts in loft units, saying the Commission on Disability had expected full day-one compliance.
