Wayland Health Department issues tick-season precautions to residents
WAYLAND — The Wayland Health Department is reminding residents to guard against tick bites as warmer weather settles in, the most consequential note out of town hall in a quiet midweek news cycle.
TOWN HALL The Health Department on Tuesday posted tick-safety guidance to the town's News Flash, asking residents to take precautions to reduce the risk of tick-borne illnesses as temperatures climb. The reminder covers the basics — checking for ticks after time outdoors, using repellent and being aware of brushy and wooded areas around yards and trails. The full advisory is on the town website.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Vokes Players' run of "Jesus Christ Superstar," directed by Jennifer Gasser with music direction by Shane Stecher, is in its final week at Beatrice Herford's Vokes Theatre on Boston Post Road. The Andrew Lloyd Webber–Tim Rice musical closes Saturday, May 16.
Vokes also confirmed an out-of-season concert tied to Wayland's semiquincentennial: a concert version of "1776," produced with the Wayland 250 Committee and the Wayland High School theater department, will be staged at Wayland High School on June 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m.
At the Council on Aging, the Community Center at 8 Andrew Ave. has posted its May newsletter and flagged two upcoming closures, on May 19 and May 25. COA Director Julie Secord's team continues to staff outreach, SHINE health-insurance counseling and transportation programs out of the building.
