WAYLAND — February 9, 2026 — Wayland Select Board unanimously backs $38.6 million water-supply borrowing ahead of spring Town Meeting. The board voted 4-0 on Monday to support Article HH, authorizing a 20-year, zero-interest state loan with first payments due in fiscal year 2031, after construction wraps in summer 2029. Department of Public Works Director Tom Holder announced an April 7 community forum on the project at 7 p.m. at the Community Center. In a joint session with the Planning Board, members debated raising the Route 20 West Sub-District maximum building height from 35 to 58 feet and density from 20 to 32 units per acre; member Thomas J. Fay flagged fire-chief concerns that such structures have created "challenges" for responders. Planning Board Chair Anette Lewis resisted a proposed Route 20 task force, citing the board's statutory jurisdiction. The board also reappointed Brian Chase to the Permanent Municipal Building Committee 4-0.
