Wayland School Committee co-sponsors $200,000 Holiday Road study article
WAYLAND — March 13, 2026 — Wayland School Committee co-sponsors Holiday Road study and backs $300,000 special education reserve. Meeting Friday with four of five members present, the committee voted to jointly sponsor Article DD with the Select Board, authorizing roughly $200,000 for preliminary design, engineering and appraisal of the 13.7-acre parcel acquired in 1956 for school purposes but unused for 70 years. Bill Whitney, drafting for the Select Board, said the scope includes site survey, geotechnical work, a Phase 1 environmental assessment and traffic analysis — comparable to a $360,000 study previously done at the Loker site. Member Christina Rodrigo voted no, calling the spending "a bit premature." The committee then unanimously supported Article M, a $300,000 free-cash transfer that would push the Special Education Reserve Fund to roughly $550,000, its largest balance since creation about four years ago.
