Wayland Assessors vote on FY26 abatements, advance senior tax article
WAYLAND — March 16, 2026 — Wayland Assessors clear FY26 abatements and track a senior tax credit headed to town meeting. Meeting with three of five members present, Vice-Chair Philip David Parks, Steven Klitgord and Douglass McNeilly unanimously accepted March 2 minutes and moved into executive session to vote on fiscal 2026 real estate abatements, exemptions and a betterment interest abatement at 29 Pelham Island Road. Klitgord, the board's representative on the Senior Tax Relief Committee, reported the proposed fiscal 2027 senior tax credit article cleared the Select Board 5-0 but was rejected 1-4 by the Finance Committee and "is going forward" to the May 4 annual town meeting. Nomination papers for the two seats held by Parks and member Massimo Taurisano drew only one candidate by the March 10 deadline. Staff member Stephen Foley remains out following the March 3 birth of his daughter, Madeline.
