Wayland Police Warn of Black Bear in Neighborhood
WAYLAND — A black bear sighting in a Wayland neighborhood drove the day's news, with police urging residents to take precautions, while Beatrice Herford's Vokes Players reported every remaining performance of "Jesus Christ Superstar" is sold out through May 16.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Vokes Players' production of "Jesus Christ Superstar," directed by Jennifer Gasser with music direction by Shane Stecher, is sold out for the remainder of its run at the Vokes Theatre on Route 20. The Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical opened May 1 and closes May 16.
Vokes also confirmed details for a special June production tied to the town's semi-quincentennial celebration: a concert version of "1776 the Musical," produced jointly with the Wayland 250 Committee and the Wayland High School theater department. Performances are set for June 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Wayland High School, outside the company's regular season.
At the Council on Aging, the May newsletter is now posted on the COA page, and Director Julie Secord's office has flagged two closures later this month — Monday, May 19 and Monday, May 25 — for residents planning visits to the Community Center at 8 Andrew Ave.
