Wayland Planning Board pushes Carroll School decision deadline to April 17

WAYLAND — February 25, 2026 — Wayland Planning Board extends Carroll School decision deadline to April 17. The board voted 4-0 Tuesday to continue the public hearing on the 37-45 Waltham Road site plan to March 25 at 7:30 p.m. and grant the applicant's requested extension. Chair Anette Lewis, Vice Chair Robin Borgestedt, Clerk Jesse Newberry and member Ira Montague worked through revised draft conditions covering 25-foot center-island light poles with an 11 p.m. shutoff, motion-sensor security lighting, and a stormwater design that peer reviewer Jason Kreil of ECT said meets state standards even without crediting infiltration. Attorney Dan Hill, representing abutters, pressed for garage-use restrictions in the decision itself, warning the neighbors could otherwise be barred "by res judicata." Lewis declined, citing precedent risk across pending Dover Amendment cases: "I don't want the board to do anything that becomes problematic for another case." The board also approved its Town Meeting report 4-0 and authorized Newberry to negotiate with the Energy Committee over the ground-mounted solar article.
