Wayland Finance Committee reassigns warrant articles, confirms wage measure pulled
WAYLAND — February 4, 2026 — Wayland Finance Committee reshuffles warrant articles and formally flags late-arriving budgets. At its Feb. 4 meeting, the committee approved amended minutes adding language expressing concern about "receiving the budgets this late in the budget season," with one veteran member calling it "really the latest we've gotten all this information" in seven cycles. Member Bill accepted Articles X and AA, a paired Fire Department payroll and union-contract item; member Iris retained Article D on OPEB funding, which she called "the meatiest of the articles," plus Article W on pension fund bonds. Article Z on wage stabilization has been pulled. Members noted roughly $755,000 in unused levy capacity against about $700,000 in recently excluded DPW debt. Town Manager Michael McLendon and Finance Director Brian Keveney present the town budget Monday; Superintendent David Fleishman and Kirsteen Peterson follow on the school budget.
