Wayland Board of Health Approves Septic Extensions at Condo Complex and Residential Property
WAYLAND — June 15, 2026 — Wayland Board of Health grants septic repair extensions, hears regional opioid data, and approves staff appointments. The board voted unanimously Monday to grant a 90-day extension to Turkey Hill Village Condos for a roughly $180,000 failed septic repair serving three units, and a separate one-month extension to the owner of 157 Buckskin Drive for housing code repairs delayed by a tenant's refusal of contractor access. The board also approved a Title 5 variance for a new front-yard septic system at 17 Sylvan Way, where poor soils and a rear wetland left no alternative location. Olivia Dufour, Regional Substance Use Prevention Coordinator for the Great Meadows Public Health Collaborative, presented findings from a 1,012-response regional opioid assessment covering seven towns, with Wayland contributing 133 responses; the data identified prevention, anti-stigma work, and connection to care as top community priorities. In general business, the board reappointed Health Director Julia Junghanns and six other department staff and health agents, tabled draft tobacco regulations until August 10, and noted the resignation of part-time assistant Jenna Chase, whose position will be posted after June 30.
