Wayland assessors clear lingering chapter land lien on French Avenue parcel

WAYLAND — January 12, 2026 — Wayland assessors release decades-old chapter land lien on French Avenue parcel. The Board of Assessors voted 5-0 Monday to discharge a classified forest, agricultural or horticultural-recreational land tax lien on Parcel 51D-016 at 9 French Avenue, a remnant of a chapter land classification removed "many, many years" ago, the board's director said. Chair Zachariah Ventress, who signed the release before the town clerk, was joined by Philip Parks, Steven Klitgord, Massimo Taurisano and Douglass McNeilly. Members also accepted Dec. 8 open session minutes recording an FY 2026 actual tax total of $46,617,082.69. The office has rolled its Vision database to FY 2027 and mailed FY 2027 income-and-expense forms Dec. 31, with about a dozen already returned. FY 2026 abatement applications are due by 7 p.m. Feb. 2, postmarked USPS only. In a later executive session the board accepted 13 December motor vehicle abatements totaling $1,517.80.
