Historic District Commission clears 20 Concord Road addition with window revision
WAYLAND — January 13, 2026 — Wayland Historic District Commission approves 20 Concord Road addition 6-0 with a window change. Chair Greg Dale presided as the commission unanimously issued a certificate of appropriateness to homeowners Don Verrecchia and Vered Tsarfall for a new wraparound porch, a second-floor expansion and a small two-story bump-out designed by Lexington architect Amy Nastasi. The only required revision: three proposed windows at the stable end of the north elevation must be reduced to two larger sash windows matching the pair above the new porch. Gutters will be copper; porch decking — bluestone, granite or composite — was left to the owners' discretion. Member Desmond McAuley urged "thermo" steam-treated wood over PVC composite trim, warning that detail decisions on the flat rubber roof's transition to asphalt shingle would determine whether the addition "works or not." The commission also approved Oct. 1, 2025 minutes 6-0 and previewed a coming bistro application from Kristen Phelan for the Old Collins Market at 21 Cochituate Road.
