Wayland assessors approve $2.5 million motor vehicle excise commitment
WAYLAND — February 2, 2026 — Wayland assessors green-light $2.5 million excise commitment as ATB dismisses resident appeal. The Board of Assessors on Feb. 2 unanimously approved the fiscal 2026 first motor vehicle and trailer excise commitment of 11,680 bills totaling $2,491,164.45, plus a seventh prior-year commitment of 239 bills totaling $14,863.03, both set to issue Feb. 23. Acting Chair Philip Parks, Chair Zachariah Ventress and member Steven Klitgord made the quorum; members Massimo Taurisano and Douglass McNeilly were absent from open session. "We're going to move right along because we're going to lose our quorum soon," Parks said. In executive session the board noted the Appellate Tax Board on Jan. 22 dismissed Amelia Bauman's fiscal 2025 appeal on 357 Commonwealth Road for lack of jurisdiction over a late tax payment, and approved seven January motor vehicle abatements totaling $251.32.
