Wayland committee votes 7-0 to send 212 Cochituate Road report to Select Board
WAYLAND — February 3, 2026 — Wayland's 212 Cochituate Road Advisory Committee voted 7-0 to send its final report to the Select Board. Chair Tom Fay was authorized to incorporate Tuesday's edits and transmit the report by a Feb. 15 deadline; member Robert Hummel was absent. Members agreed to retain Appendices E and F in the body, drop alternate versions, and globally replace references to the former Department of Housing and Community Development with the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities. After extended debate over how to address local preference, the panel adopted aspirational language stating it is hoped the project "will address in part the unmet housing needs of individuals with disabilities living in Wayland." Members also recommended preserving green space "if practical" and welcoming both innovative and traditional development models. Jean Milburn, who drafted much of the report, said the committee had "done good work."
