Town sets summer hours at Sewataro, dates Haskell and Smile projects

SUDBURY — Town Hall rolled out a cluster of summer-season announcements as June opened, headlined by new public access hours at Camp Sewataro, a confirmed start window for the Haskell Field and Smile Playground construction projects, and Saturday's Locally Grown Sudbury Farmer's Market & Fair at the Fairbank Community Center.

TOWN HALL

The town manager's office posted updated summer access information for the Camp Sewataro property, with public hours now running Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to dusk and weekends from 9 a.m. to dusk. The town is also promoting a "Springtime at Sewataro" community event Thursday, June 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Construction timelines are firming up for two parks projects funded through the Community Preservation Act. Renovations to the Haskell Field restrooms and improvements to Smile Playground equipment are expected to begin in late July or early August and run about three weeks, the town said.

The town is also promoting the Locally Grown Sudbury Farmer's Market & Fair on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairbank Community Center.

SCHOOLS

Sudbury Public Schools posted two community notices Tuesday: a Sudbury Fixit Clinic scheduled for Saturday, June 13, at Goodnow Library, and the opening of client registration for HOPEsudbury's annual backpack drive, which runs through June 26. The district also flagged an upcoming EV webinar posted June 1.

Families should note an early-release day Wednesday, June 3, which coincides with kindergarten orientation across the elementary schools. The School Committee next meets Monday, June 15, at 7 p.m. The last day of school for most students is Tuesday, June 23, with Loring closing a day earlier on June 22 and an early-release last day at the other elementary schools on Thursday, June 18. Juneteenth on Friday, June 19, is a no-school day.

At Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens published the latest "LS News & Happenings" newsletter on June 1 with end-of-year updates for families.
