Town Announces July 4 Parade as Schools Set June 24 Last Day

The town announced Monday it will host a July 4 parade, the first official summer-celebration posting of the season, while Hopkinton Public Schools enter the final eight days of the 2025-26 school year with preschool wrapping up tomorrow and high school exams beginning Wednesday.

TOWN HALL

The town posted notice June 15 that Hopkinton will host a July 4 parade. The full item — including route, lineup, and timing — was not yet detailed in the town's News Flash feed within this coverage window. Residents should watch hopkintonma.gov for specifics as they are released.

SCHOOLS

The end-of-year calendar is moving fast. Tuesday, June 16 is the Last Day of PreSchool. High school exams begin Wednesday, June 18 (Exams 1 and 2), continue through Exams 3 and 4 on June 22, Exams 5 and 6 on June 23, and Exams 7 and make-up on June 24. The last day of school for grades K–11 is June 24, with early dismissal at 12:20 p.m. and no lunch served. The entire district will be closed Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Families with incoming kindergartners should mark their calendars: Kindergarten Night is scheduled for both June 17 and June 18, running 6 to 6:30 p.m.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

With high school exams starting this week, the Hopkinton Public Library is opening its Betty Strong Room as a Final Exams Study Hall on June 16 and June 17, from 2 to 7:30 p.m. each day — a welcome study refuge for students heading into exam season.

Monday evening also features a virtual program, "Wonderfully Weird: Celebrating the Joys of Feeling Different," from 7 to 7:30 p.m. The Board of Library Trustees holds its regular meeting in the Ellsworth Conference Room at 7 p.m. the same evening.

Looking ahead slightly, the library is flagging a heads-up for Thursday, June 18: its parking lot will be closed all day due to utility work. The building will remain open, but staff note the work may leave the interior warmer than usual and ask patrons to plan accordingly.

The library's June Guest Librarian feature highlights Ian Richardson, Administrative Assistant for the Town Clerk's office and Human Resources, and his fiancé Ashleigh. The pair share a list of horror titles — books they say keep them thinking long after turning the last page. Readers interested in future Guest Librarian slots can contact Library Director Nanci Hill at nhill@hopkintonma.gov.
