Sudbury to renovate Haskell Field bathrooms, upgrade Smile Playground this summer

SUDBURY — Town Manager's office announced Sunday that Community Preservation Act funds will pay for a bathroom renovation at Haskell Field and equipment improvements at Smile Playground, with construction expected to run about three weeks beginning in late July or early August. The announcement headlined a quiet weekend on the town's news feed, alongside reminders about next Saturday's Locally Grown farmers market and the June edition of the town's Sudbrief newsletter.

TOWN HALL

The Haskell Field and Smile Playground projects are being funded through the Community Preservation Act, the town said in a News Flash posted Sunday afternoon. Crews are slated to be on site for roughly three weeks starting at the end of July or beginning of August 2026. Residents can find project details on the town manager's page.

The town also pushed out its May 2026 Sudbrief, a roundup of upcoming programs, events and announcements that residents can read on the town manager's site. And a reminder went up that the Locally Grown Sudbury Farmer's Market & Fair returns Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairbank Community Center.

SCHOOLS

The Sudbury Public Schools Committee meets Monday, June 1, at 7 p.m., with the agenda posted last week on the district news page. It is the committee's first regular meeting after the May 20 special town meeting session.

Sudbury Public Schools also reminded families of two recent posts of interest: a community conversation featuring Sean Killingsworth, posted May 29, and an invitation for participants to join an Adaptive Rail Trail Ride on Saturday, June 6. Kindergarten orientation and an early-release day are both set for Wednesday, June 3.

At Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, the most recent district communication remains Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens' May 1 "LS News & Happenings 4/30" message; no new bulletin has been posted since.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Sudbury Senior Center is now on its summer schedule: open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday; and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
