Sudbury sets Thursday open house on Open Space and Recreation Plan

SUDBURY — The Select Board will host an Open Space & Recreation Plan open house at the Fairbank Community Center on Thursday at 7 p.m., the most immediate town date on a slate that also includes a June 9 Housing Roundtable at Goodnow Library and a new Sudbury Police push to patrol the rail trail.

TOWN HALL

The Open Space & Recreation Plan open house is set for Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at the Fairbank Community Center, the Select Board announced Wednesday. The plan shapes how Sudbury prioritizes conservation land, trails and recreation facilities, and the open house is the public's chance to weigh in before the document is finalized.

The Planning and Community Development office also announced a Sudbury Housing Roundtable for Tuesday, June 9, at 7 p.m. at Goodnow Library, with a Zoom option. The session is billed as a discussion of affordable housing challenges facing the town and is open to residents.

Town Clerk's office reminded residents that U.S. and Massachusetts flags at state buildings remain at half-staff under an order issued by Gov. Maura Healey on May 24, in accordance with 4 U.S.C. § 7(m).

SCHOOLS

Sudbury Public Schools posted notice Wednesday of an Anti-Hate Anti-Bias Taskforce meeting on Thursday, May 28. The district is also circulating community notices for the Goodnow Book Nook Spring Book Sale and a multicultural storytelling event, "The Great Race: The Story of the Chinese Zodiac."

Families should mark a busy stretch ahead: the next School Committee meeting is Monday, June 1, at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, June 3, brings both an early-release day and Kindergarten Orientation. The Summer Program Student Information Form for SMILE and EXPLORE is due Friday, May 29.

HOPEsudbury's Fishing Derby & Fun Day and an Adaptive Rail Trail Ride on Saturday, June 6, are also being promoted through the district's community notices channel.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Sudbury Senior Center is now operating on its summer schedule, in effect through Sept. 30: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday; and 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Registration for programs runs through (978) 443-3055.

The Goodnow Book Nook Spring Book Sale, run by the library's friends group, is being promoted through town channels this week alongside the June 9 housing roundtable, which will use the Goodnow meeting space.
