Sudbury Select Board creates Liberty Ledge subcommittee on 4-1 vote

SUDBURY — January 6, 2026 — Sudbury Select Board creates Liberty Ledge subcommittee on 4-1 vote. Vice-Chair Janie Dretler and member Daniel Carty will compile contract history, financials and prior studies on the town-owned Sewataro property for full-board review by March 9; member Charles Russo dissented, arguing the five-member board should handle the work in open session and warning that subcommittees can "die in the dark." The board also reached consensus on a $100,000 free-cash article to extend MWRTA Catch Connect microtransit, which has provided nearly 3,000 trips in 2025 at a town-capped $100,000 share of a $300,000 total cost. DPW Director Tina Rivard told the board that the 16 miles of walkways proposed in the 2000 walkway report would now cost roughly $27 million to build, versus $2.8 million then. Paul Westby of 12 West Street was appointed to the Energy and Sustainability Committee.
