Sewataro subcommittee forwards two competing drafts to full Select Board

SUDBURY — January 28, 2026 — Sudbury's two-member Liberty Ledge-Sewataro subcommittee will send two competing draft compilations to the full Select Board after deadlocking on scope and process. Chair Janie Dretler and member Daniel Carty spent much of the Jan. 28 meeting arguing over whether Dretler's revised draft, posted to the town website the day before, should have been emailed to Carty directly; he said he would not comment on "documents that weren't shared in advance," while she said the public posting was "open and transparent." Substantive disagreements included whether to add a structured 20-year inventory of Sudbury land acquisitions, whether to include town-wide reports such as the Route 20 Corridor Study that do not reference Sewataro, and how to compare Sewataro to Broadacre, Pantry Brook and other parcels. Three residents — Bill Schneller, Kay Bell and Dave Henkels — spoke in support of the property. The subcommittee approved its Jan. 15 minutes 2-0 and tentatively set Feb. 12 as its next meeting.
