Select Board rescinds and re-votes to back Lincoln-Sudbury regional agreement
SUDBURY — May 4, 2026 — Sudbury Select Board reverses a split vote and unanimously backs Lincoln-Sudbury regional agreement amendment. At a 10-minute pre-Town Meeting session May 4, the board voted 5-0 to rescind its March 31 4-0-1 position on Article 24 and 5-0 to support it, after member Charles Russo said Town Counsel had confirmed state law would govern the treatment of excess and deficiency funds — the issue that had prompted his abstention. "I wasn't comfortable with that question unanswered," Russo said, calling the timing of the clarification a process problem rather than a policy disagreement. Member Lisa Kouchakdjian told colleagues she will deliver minority reports at Town Meeting on Article 13, a $200,000 transfer to a Vocational Education Stabilization Fund, and Article 19, $20,000 for Liberty Ledge and Sewataro visioning consultants. Town Manager Andrew Sheehan briefed the board on proclamation logistics and microphone-handling guidance from Town Meeting audio staff.
