WAYLAND — The town clerk's office released the official synopsis of the 2026 Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday, recapping voter action on all 41 warrant articles — the formal record of a week that shaped Wayland's budget, housing rules and water policy. Meanwhile, police are urging residents to take precautions after a black bear was reported in a town neighborhood.

TOWN HALL

The town's News Flash posted the 2026 Annual Town Meeting Synopsis covering Articles 1 through 41, the official rundown of what passed, failed and was amended over the recent meeting nights. Residents who missed sessions or want a clean reference for the FY27 operating budget, housing-related zoning changes and capital items can use the synopsis as the authoritative record; it is available on the town website at https://www.wayland.ma.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=50.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Vokes Players' run of "Jesus Christ Superstar" — Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's rock opera, directed by Jennifer Gasser with music director Shane Stecher — is in performance at the historic Vokes Theatre on Route 20 through May 16. The company has flagged the run as sold out.

Looking further ahead, Vokes is partnering with the Wayland 250 Committee and the Wayland High School theater department on a concert version of "1776" as part of the town's semiquincentennial celebrations. The concert plays at Wayland High School on June 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m., outside the regular Vokes season.

At the Council on Aging, the May 2026 newsletter is now posted on the COA page. The Community Center at 8 Andrew Ave. will be closed on May 19 and May 25; COA Director Julie Secord's team can be reached at 508-358-2990 for program details.
