School Committee may co-sponsor 25 Holiday Road study article

WAYLAND — February 4, 2026 — Wayland School Committee signals openness to co-sponsoring a study of the 25 Holiday Road parcel. Select Board Chair Carol Martin and Article DD liaison Bill Whitney appeared Tuesday to brief members on a warrant article funding engineering work, environmental review and an appraisal of the roughly 14-acre town-owned site, one of only two large undeveloped municipal parcels. Martin said Wayland ranks near 310th of 351 communities in new growth and that "you can't make any decisions until we have some due diligence done." Committee members asked the Select Board to consider joint sponsorship and language preserving potential school uses, citing HMFH's K-8 facilities master plan due Feb. 25. Athletic Director Heath Rollins reported 80 percent of high school students play on 59 teams filling 1,050 roster spots, with the $300 athletic fee unchanged. The committee approved its consent agenda and adjourned at 8 p.m.
