Planning Board continues Carroll School hearing to Feb. 25 over stormwater concerns

WAYLAND — January 28, 2026 — Wayland Planning Board continues Carroll School hearing to Feb. 25 amid stormwater fight. The board voted 4-0 to continue the 37-45 Waltham Road site plan hearing virtually after Chair Anette Lewis said she was not comfortable with the applicant's use of separate HydraCAD and mounding analyses; peer reviewer Jason Kreil of ECT said he could not guarantee the approach would meet the 72-hour drain-down standard. Applicant engineer Sean Malone said he had "the utmost confidence" the system would function as designed. Attorney Dan Hill, representing abutters, called groundwater rising into the infiltration chambers "a huge red flag" and said the applicant's own model showed a 200 percent queue increase at Waltham Road intersections, calling the applicant's proposed $5,000 traffic mitigation insufficient. Attorney William Proia agreed to extend the decision deadline to March 27.
