Park Commission vacancy draws two applicants as Groton's Select Board opens joint appointment process.
GROTON -- The Groton Select Board met Monday, June 15, in joint session with the Park Commission to interview two candidates for an open seat on the commission: Jeff Oberinger, a nearly 50-year Groton resident with roughly 20 years of prior Park Commission service, and Eric Burr, a newer resident seeking greater involvement in town government. The appointment runs through the 2027 annual town election.

COMMUNITY -- At the Select Board meeting, a board member praised the Groton Greenway Committee's River Fest, held the prior Sunday, citing a cardboard-boat-building race for children as a highlight. Volunteer firefighters staffed a food tent at the event. The board also noted that Groton Hill Music was offering a free Juneteenth concert on June 19, open to the community.
