Mindess Elementary Luau Set for Wednesday as Library Programs Fill the Week
No press releases or breaking announcements landed from Ashland Town Hall or the schools district on June 14, but the calendar ahead is busy: David Mindess Elementary School is hosting a community luau Wednesday evening, and the library is running programs nearly every day this week.
SCHOOLS
David Mindess Elementary School will hold its Luau on Wednesday, June 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. — a traditional end-of-year community gathering for families. A day earlier, on Tuesday, June 16, the school's fourth-graders head out on a full-day field trip. Also on June 16, the Mindess School Building Committee convenes by Zoom; residents following the ongoing building project can check the district calendar at ashland.k12.ma.us for the meeting link and agenda.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Ashland Public Library kicks off a busy stretch of programming Monday, June 15. That evening, author Rachel Hartigan joins the library virtually for a talk on her book "Lost: Amelia Earhart's Three Mysterious Deaths and One Extraordinary Life" — a timely pick ahead of Flag Day. Also Monday: the in-person Knit and Crochet Club meets, and the Project ABC: Play, Learn & Grow drop-in session runs for families with children ages 0 to 5.
Tuesday, June 16, brings Clocktown Rockers, the library's music-and-movement program for children ages 2 to 5 with a caregiver. That evening, author John Wang joins virtually for a discussion of his book "Big Asian Energy," and the in-person Cook Book Club gathers around Eddie Hernandez's "Turnip Greens and Tortillas."
