Littleton School Committee approves handbook updates and town financial policy

LITTLETON — May 14, 2026 — Littleton School Committee unanimously approves Shaker Lane handbook changes and town financial management policy. The four-member quorum at the May 14 meeting — Clerk Elaine Santelmann was absent — postponed the annual reorganization vote and welcomed newly appointed member Annalise Taber. Superintendent Kelly Clenchy presented two Shaker Lane handbook updates for 2026-2027: a clarification requiring dismissal changes through the Pick-Up Patrol platform by 2:15 p.m. and a reaffirmation of the adult presence requirement at bus stops for students through grade 2. The committee also accepted the Town Financial Management Policy on a unanimous vote after Business Manager Steve Mark, who has now successfully passed budgets at Town Meeting 20 consecutive times, resolved prior concerns about revolving fund language with Town Treasurer Robin. Curriculum coordinators presented a wide-ranging State of the Curriculum report covering science, history and social sciences, ELA, and elementary programs, with the committee signaling strong interest in eventually making a new Financial Literacy elective — launching at Littleton High School this fall with 30 students enrolled — a graduation requirement.
