Littleton Board of Health Approves Three Septic Variances at May Meeting

LITTLETON — May 27, 2026 — Littleton's Board of Health unanimously approved groundwater offset variances for three residential septic repair projects and advanced a proposed tobacco regulation amendment capping nicotine pouch strength at six milligrams. Chair Matt Wason and members Dan Kane, Kevin Baker, and new member Libby Donegan voted 4-0 on each of the three septic approvals — covering properties at 18 Long Lake Road, 19 Christina Street, and 504 Great Road — all involving constrained lots requiring Presby alternative systems and local upgrade approvals. Joan of the 11th Tobacco Alliance told the board nicotine poisoning calls have risen 400 percent nationally as pouch products surge, and that Zyn pouches have been sold to youths ages 17 to 19 in the service area; the board voted 4-0 to continue the tobacco public hearing to June 24 for written retailer comment. The board also took up a potential revival of Regulation 23, repealed in 2011, which had required a variance for retaining walls used in new residential construction — with all members expressing support for exploring reinstatement.
