Lexington Special Town Election Set for Tuesday Amid Busy Civic Week
Lexington heads into a packed civic week with a Special Town Election on the calendar for Tuesday, June 16, while a 10-day soccer celebration opens at the Visitors Center Lawn and multiple boards convene for late-June business.
TOWN HALL
A Special Town Election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16. The town homepage is directing residents to its election information page for polling details, and any voter with questions about hours or location should check there before tomorrow morning.
Starting that same day, the Lexington Visitors Center Lawn becomes what town officials describe as a "soccer celebration arena," running through June 26. The event is free to visit and runs for 11 days.
The Select Board is accepting applications through June 26 from residents interested in serving as Lexington's representative on the Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical School Committee. The appointment process is open now through the town website.
All non-emergency town offices and buildings will be closed Friday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth. Emergency services remain available.
The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles is warning residents about a text message scam falsely claiming recipients owe money for driving infractions. The RMV advises against clicking any links or sharing personal information in response to such messages.
SCHOOLS
The Lexington School Committee meets Tuesday, June 16, in a hybrid session — its agenda was revised as recently as June 12. A School Committee Community Conversation Forum follows the next day, Wednesday, June 17. The School Building Committee's Communications Working Group also holds a remote meeting Wednesday.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Lexington Soccer Celebration launches Tuesday at the Visitors Center Lawn and runs daily through June 26. Separately, a "Coping With Change" program is listed on the town events calendar for Tuesday, June 16; full program details were not available in today's sources.
