Lafleur Appoints Miklosko Interim Public Works Director as Cathcart Retires June 19

Town Manager Kerry Lafleur has appointed Aaron Miklosko as Interim Director of Concord Public Works ahead of Director Alan Cathcart's retirement on June 19, a leadership handoff that arrives as crews fan out across eight town streets this week and the school year counts down to its final days.

TOWN HALL

Lafleur named Miklosko to the interim role effective upon Cathcart's June 19 retirement, per a town personnel announcement. No permanent replacement has been announced alongside the posting.

ADA sidewalk ramp repairs on Stow Street are scheduled to begin Thursday, June 18, according to a News Flash posted Monday morning. Stow Street is one of eight roads on the town's active work list for the week of June 15; the others are Hill Street, Orchard Road, Main Street, Adin Drive, Everett Street, Sudbury Road, and Devens Street. Silver Hill Road reconstruction, which began June 8, is also ongoing. Residents and drivers should expect localized disruptions on multiple corridors simultaneously.

The town's Level 1 water restriction remains in effect, capping lawn irrigation at one day per week. The town has also published its FY26 Grants Dashboard at concordma.gov, designed to give residents a clearer picture of how Concord is leveraging grant funding across departments.

SCHOOLS

Wednesday, June 17, is the 180th and final day of the school year for Concord Public Schools students. Schools will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

The Concord Free Public Library is accepting applications for its 2027 Writer-in-Residence Program through July 15. The residency runs January through June and is intended to carry forward Concord's literary heritage by supporting diverse voices through arts programming. All Concord library branches will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
