Historical Commission votes to press town to add history to civic brochure
WAYLAND — February 4, 2026 — Wayland Historical Commission votes to demand history be added to future town brochures. Members voted unanimously Tuesday to send a letter to Town Manager Michael McCall and the Select Board after a recent civic mailer produced by Town Clerk Trudy Reed and Select Board co-chair Doug Levine omitted any substantive mention of the town's historical assets. Commissioner Ann Gordon said the omission would compound if not corrected now: history needs to be "in it in the beginning or they'll forget it for the next one and the next one and the next one." Commissioners also accepted public comment from Sherman Bridge Road resident Alisa Carney urging support for warrant articles to drop the speed limit to 20 mph and ban heavy commercial vehicles, and heard that the recent Deborah Sampson performance drew more than $400 in donations toward a future Cochituate Ball Field sign.
