Historical Commission approves Old Lancaster Road demolition with wood-window condition

SUDBURY — May 19, 2026 — Sudbury Historical Commission conditions 317 Old Lancaster Road demolition approval on wood replacement windows. The commission voted 7-0 May 19 to approve the demolition plan for the garage and side entry at the historic yellow house at Old Lancaster and Peakham roads, requiring that the two replacement windows on the original front block be either true divided light or simulated divided light wood windows, sized and aligned with the windows above. Chair Chris Hager said the commission "typically doesn't approve vinyl windows on a historic fabric of a building." Owner Nikhil Borsakar agreed to the condition; wood garage doors and a wood mudroom door were "strongly recommended but not required." The commission separately voted 7-0 to authorize up to $1,000 to clean and repaint as many as four granite mile markers at roughly $210 each, and reappointed members Jan Costa and William S Andreas.
