Groton-Dunstable School Committee Approves $2.6M Warrant, Advances Two Policies

GROTON — May 13, 2026 — Groton-Dunstable School Committee approves $2.6M warrant and advances two policies on first read. The committee voted unanimously at its May 13 meeting to approve a combined payroll and vendor warrant of $2,603,778.56, covering one payroll warrant of $1,174,227.63 and five accounts-payable warrants totaling $1,429,550.93. Superintendent Dr. Bruno told the committee that reductions of one occupational therapist position and 0.4 of a speech language pathologist position — made to close an FY27 budget deficit — "does not mean students will no longer be receiving these services as written into their IEPs," directly addressing parent concerns raised after a district-wide email. Bruno also warned that without operating overrides in both Groton and Dunstable for FY28, the district faces further significant staff reductions and cannot restore positions already lost. Two policies — a new food modification policy and a procedural amendment to the existing wellness policy — were presented on first read and will return for a vote at the committee's next meeting. The meeting also marked the final appearance of member Catherine, who was recognized by the full committee and said she plans to remain engaged through the district's DEI advisory committee.
