Finance Committee declines to reconsider vocational education fund vote
SUDBURY — April 27, 2026 — Sudbury Finance Committee rejects Select Board chair's appeal to reverse vocational education fund vote. The committee voted 7-1 Monday against reconsidering Article 13, which would create a stabilization fund seeded with $200,000 for a potential future vocational district buy-in, after Select Board Chair Lisa Kouchakdjian appeared in her individual capacity to ask members to "take this step together." Only Henry Sorett supported reconsideration, saying he wanted to "afford that for Sudbury's kids." Ryan Lynch led the opposition, calling the set-aside "purely speculative" given that no district has been selected. The committee also recommended a $750,000 snow and ice transfer 8-0, $20,000 for a Siwataro visioning study 6-1-2, a CIAC bylaw raising the review threshold to $250,000 8-1, and $100,000 to continue MWRTA Catch Connect 8-1, after Select Board member Dan Carty reported just under 5,000 rides in 15 months, 54 percent of them touching the town's three large affordable housing complexes.
