Wayland design board endorses Town House cafe signage package

WAYLAND — April 28, 2026 — Wayland design board unanimously backs signage and lighting for new Town House cafe. The Design Review Advisory Board voted 3-0 Tuesday to recommend approval of the sign, lighting and landscaping plan for Town House Cafe and Bistro, a boutique restaurant being built into the historic Collins Market building at 21 Cochituate Road. Owner Kirsten Lipson, joined by architects from JTA, said she hopes to open before Labor Day after clearing special permit, site plan and Historic District Commission reviews. Board members warned the package sits "right at 40" square feet — the town maximum — once the menu case is counted, and asked the team to add Pantone color specs, font details, plant species and a setback dimension before the May 12 Zoning Board of Appeals hearing. The 1840s building once housed Wayland's first secular town hall.
