Design Review Board backs Townhouse Cafe signage at former Collins Market

WAYLAND — April 25, 2026 — Wayland Design Review Advisory Board endorses signage plan for Townhouse Cafe at former Collins Market. The board voted 3-0 on April 25 to recommend approval of exterior signs, lighting and landscaping for owner Kirsten Lipson's boutique restaurant at 21 Cochituate Road, which she said will open before Labor Day. Chair William Sterling, with members Robin Borgestedt and Tatiana Person, flagged items for the May 12 Zoning Board of Appeals hearing, including a full square-footage tally against the town's 40-square-foot sign cap, exact paint colors for the "many shades of gold" lettering, a setback dimension on the nonconforming parcel and species call-outs on the landscape plan. Julia Lloyd Mohr of JTA said the green will be matched to repainted shutters using Wayland Historical Society color swatches. The 1840s building housed Wayland's first secular town hall.
