Conservation Commission opens Feeley Field rebuild hearing, continues to a later date
SUDBURY — March 23, 2026 — Sudbury Conservation Commission opens CPC-funded Feeley Field softball rebuild, flags irrigation and fill concerns. Kyle Rowan of Gale Associates presented a Notice of Intent (DEP 301-1461) to regrade two softball fields, install subsurface flat-panel drains and an infiltration trench, extend ADA access, and add limited irrigation — disturbing roughly 37,000 square feet within the 100-foot wetland buffer and 1,700 square feet in the riverfront area. Conservation Coordinator Lori asked that sprinkler heads be relocated outside the 100-foot buffer, that no excess fill be dumped in the wet southeast corner, and that the order prohibit fertilization, noting the southeast corner holds water "even after five days of draining." DPW Director Tina Rivard said construction would run July to October with fields unavailable until spring 2027, and identified irrigation and an upper-parking-lot switchback ramp as possible deduct alternates. The commission voted unanimously to continue the hearing without a date pending Planning Board stormwater review.
