Conservation Commission defers Maynard Road ownership decision to March 23

SUDBURY — February 9, 2026 — Sudbury Conservation Commission punts Maynard Road open-space decision to March amid beaver-dam concerns. The commission voted unanimously Feb. 9 to continue the 74 and 80 Maynard Road subdivision hearing to March 23, asking Bonnie Brooke Realty's engineer Bruce Salick of Alec and Associates for revised lot lines, planting square footages and a written phasing plan. Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone said town ownership of the 7-acre open-space parcel would saddle the commission with a known beaver dam on land where trapping would not typically be permitted. Vice Chair Ken Holtz argued a conservation restriction would give the commission "a little bit more control." Abutter Doreen Neal of 75 Wake Robin Road said her family paid for trapping last year and called it "intensely discouraging" to see flooding encroach on her property. The project has shrunk from nine lots to six since 2021.
