Concord Planning Board Unanimously Backs Commonwealth Avenue Gas Station Renovation

CONCORD — June 9, 2026 — Concord Planning Board unanimously recommends approval of a gas station renovation at 166 Commonwealth Avenue. The board voted 5-0 at its June 9 remote meeting to advise the Board of Appeals to grant a special permit and site plan review for Concord Country Store, LLC, represented by attorney Jonathan Silverstein of Blatman, Bobrowski, Haverty and Silverstein, LLC, to renovate the existing gas station in the Floodplain Conservancy District. Key conditions attached to the recommendation require either regrading or installation of a slot drain trench to manage stormwater runoff, fire department inspection of underground fuel tanks during removal, off-peak scheduling for large truck deliveries, and verification that exterior lighting conforms to approved plans. The board declined to require EV charging stations to shut off overnight, with member Rob Almeida noting no other Concord charging stations face that restriction.
