Cambridge Warriors heading to Minneapolis highlights a busy week of local sports news.

CAMBRIDGE -- The Cambridge Warriors, the city's undefeated Special Olympics basketball team, will travel to Minneapolis to compete in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games National Championship, Cambridge Recreation announced. The trip marks a milestone for the program, which is run through the City's Department of Human Service Programs.

TOWN -- Gold Star Pool opened Saturday, June 20, for the 2026 season, Cambridge Recreation reported. The pool's opening coincides with a busy summer stretch for the Recreation division, which also announced a "Fun Under the Sun" program bringing sports and activities to Summer Food parks. A Summer Food Kickoff Event is scheduled for June 26 at noon. YOUTH LEAGUES -- Cambridge Youth Soccer (CYS) posted several city league champions on its website: Sky Blue won the 7/8 Boys division; Eritrea took the 3/4 Girls title; Portugal claimed the 3/4 South Boys championship; Gold won the 7/8 Girls division; and the Longhorns captured the 5/6 South Boys title. CYS serves approximately 2,000 players ages 4–18 and provides roughly $100,000 in annual financial aid.

Cambridge Youth Hockey announced that 2026–2027 placement registration is now open. The Falcons are based at Simoni Skating Rink in East Cambridge.

Cambridge Youth Lacrosse's Future Falcons co-ed development program for children ages 7 and under ran Saturday mornings at Danehy Park through June 14. Registration information for upcoming seasons is available on the CYL website.
