Bitter elected chair, Morton vice-chair as L-S committee reorganizes
SUDBURY — May 12, 2026 — Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School Committee reorganizes, elects Catherine Bitter chair and Charles I. Morton, IV vice-chair. Both votes were unanimous, 6-0, at the May 12 meeting — the committee's first in-person session at the high school in years. Outgoing Chair Ravi Simon, who served two years, said the committee is now "firing on all cylinders" after rewriting the 1988 regional agreement, settling teacher contracts and surviving a calendar review. The committee welcomed new Lincoln member Jason D. McLure, a journalist replacing Lucy Maulsby, and seated Lissette Gil-Sanchez as the first non-voting METCO parent representative. Members unanimously approved four student trips — a Vermont soccer service trip, a new $5,000-$6,000 Rwanda cultural trip led by Dave Hosford, the Latin program's Italy trip, and the biennial German exchange — and gave first reading to a state-mandated physical-restraint policy that must be adopted by August. Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens reported Relay for Life raised over $153,000, fifth nationally.
